Nutella Chocolate Chip Croissants
Nutella croissants are a delicacy worthy of the best pastry shops. And children love a tasty pastry, and so does everyone else.
Their crunchy dough, with the creamy filling of Nutella and chocolate, makes them irresistible for a kids party food.
With the frozen puff pastry you can make them in less than fifteen minutes.
Of course, like everything, it has a few little tricks.
Don’t overdo it with Nutella: Although we all love Nutella, don’t overdo it, because if you put a lot of Nutella it will be very difficult to close the croissant well. With a thin layer of Nutella, the recipe works great.
No matter the original shape of your dough, you should always cut triangles to make the croissants. The filling is placed on the longest side.
Even if you buy the dough ready, you will always need a little wheat flour, to prevent it from sticking to the table. We use chocolate chips and some nuts. But you can do the same with chocolate bars.
How To Make Nutella Chocolate Chip Croissants
Preheat the oven to 160 ° C / 320 ° F. Cover a baking sheet with wax paper. You can also spread the tray with a little butter, and then sprinkle it with flour. Crack the egg into a small bowl, and beat it. Set aside.
The first step is to sprinkle some flour on the table. If your dough is very thick, that is, it measures more than five millimeters thick, roll it out a little. Next, cut the dough into triangles. If the dough is round, cut it like pizza slices. If it is square, divide it into two large rectangles, and then cut small triangles. Each triangle must be approximately 7 cm on the aside.
Take a tablespoon of Nutella, and spread it over the first triangle. Leave room on the edges; it should only be in the central part. If you are a newbie to croissants, a teaspoon of Nutella in the widest part of the triangle will be fine. No need to spread it.
On the widest part of each triangle, place a tablespoon of chocolate chips, and half a tablespoon of chopped walnuts.
Then, select the first triangle, and fold the two ends where the chocolate chips are inside, trying to cover the filling. Then continue rolling the croissant on itself, always trying to keep the Nutella filling inside. Repeat with all the croissants.
Place the croissants on the tray that you prepared previously, with a distance of at least three centimeters between one and the other. Varnish them with beaten eggs and take them to the oven. Bake them for about ten to fifteen minutes, until they look completely golden.
Decorate the croissants with powdered sugar and more Nutella.
